ABOUT THIS CARD

Hitmonchan is a rare holo Pokemon card from Pokemon Base Set, card 7 of 102, released January 9, 1999 in the Base series. The illustration is by Ken Sugimori.

Hitmonchan is arguably the most competitively important card in Base Set: a Basic Pokémon that attacked for 20 on turn one made Haymaker — the first great aggro archetype — possible. Ask an early tournament player which Base Set holo won the most games and this is the answer.

VALUE

What is Hitmonchan #7 from Base Set worth?

Two different numbers answer this, and they are not interchangeable. Raw/ungraded: a loose, ungraded copy of Hitmonchan #7 (Base Set) carries a market reference of $20.78 USD for the holofoil printing (TCGplayer market price, as of 2026-09-11). Graded slabs: a graded example is priced per grading company and per grade and can sit far above that raw figure - one documented public sale is on file for this card, $29400.00 for a PSA 10 on 2026-08-23, listed with its source below. Both are references, not offers. The graded copy in our machine carries a Rip Station estimated slab value of $382.00 (CGC 10).
