Rip the $50.00 machineABOUT THIS CARD
Blastoise is a rare holo Pokemon card from Pokemon Base Set, card 2 of 102, released January 9, 1999 in the Base series. The illustration is by Ken Sugimori.
Blastoise anchored the best-performing archetype of the earliest competitive era: Rain Dance decks used its Pokémon Power to accelerate Water Energy onto the board years before energy acceleration became standard design. It is the second card of the original holo trio, and graded copies trade as one of the three pillar cards of Base Set alongside Charizard and Venusaur.
VALUE
What is Blastoise #2 from Base Set worth?
Two different numbers answer this, and they are not interchangeable. Raw/ungraded: a loose, ungraded copy of Blastoise #2 (Base Set) carries a market reference of $224.87 USD for the holofoil printing (TCGplayer market price, as of 2026-09-11). Graded slabs: a graded example is priced per grading company and per grade and can sit far above that raw figure - one documented public sale is on file for this card, $138880.00 for a PSA 10 on 2026-02-15, listed with its source below. Both are references, not offers. The graded copy in our machine carries a Rip Station estimated slab value of $578.00 (PSA 7).
