ABOUT THIS CARD

Charizard is a rare holo Pokemon card from Pokemon Base Set 2, card 4 of 130, released February 24, 2000 in the Base series. The illustration is by Mitsuhiro Arita.

Base Set 2's Charizard is the same Ken Sugimori artwork on the 2000 reprint set. It trades well below the original but has become the accessible on-ramp to owning 'a Base Charizard', and top grades are scarcer than assumed because the set was opened casually.

VALUE

What is Charizard #4 from Base Set 2 worth?

Two different numbers answer this, and they are not interchangeable. Raw/ungraded: a loose, ungraded copy of Charizard #4 (Base Set 2) carries a market reference of $504.11 USD for the holofoil printing (TCGplayer market price, as of 2026-09-11). Graded slabs: a graded example is priced per grading company and per grade and can sit far above that raw figure - documented public sales on file for this card run from $32400.00 (PSA 10, 2026-03-29) to $43200.00 (PSA 10, 2026-08-23), each listed with its source below. Both are references, not offers. The graded copy in our machine carries a Rip Station estimated slab value of $400.00 (PSA 7).
