Three things the Pokemon market has been waiting for all month land inside the same seventy-two hours.
Worlds, August 28 to 30
The 2026 Pokemon World Championships run Friday through Sunday in San Francisco. Swiss rounds for the Trading Card Game, the Video Game Championships, Pokemon GO and Pokemon Unite are at the Moscone Center, along with PokemonXP, the first open fan festival to run alongside Worlds; the Sunday finals move to the Chase Center. The opening ceremony is Friday at 9 a.m. Pacific. Pokemon TCG Live's Worlds celebration, with Twitch drops during the championship broadcast and the PokemonXP card game panel, continues through September 3.
For collectors, Worlds weekend matters in two ways. The winning decks get a bid on their key singles for a week or two afterward, and the event itself tends to be the busiest sealed-product weekend of the summer. The format this year is Mega Evolution-era Standard, so the cards that move will be from Ascended Heroes and Pitch Black, the two sets whose chase prices have been drifting lower in our modern Index for a month.
Two tin lines on Friday
The Mega Forces tin carries one foil promo of the buyer's choice (Mega Dragonite ex, Mega Darkrai ex or Mega Zeraora ex), four booster packs and a TCG Live code. The Ascended Heroes tins, at $21.99, carry a Mega Feraligatr ex, Mega Meganium ex or Mega Emboar ex promo with four Ascended Heroes packs; they were announced in June to get the January set back on shelves after it "sold out so often at every drop." Ascended Heroes has now fallen in five straight Index readings, this week by 3.1 percent, which is what a set does when reprint supply is a week away.
Team Rocket's Ambition, live since Wednesday
Pokemon TCG Pocket's Team Rocket's Ambition released Wednesday, August 26 at 6 p.m. Pacific: 110 cards (72 main, 38 secret), Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres ex under Giovanni, and the new Owner card type. A month of missions, emblems and a puzzle campaign runs through September 29. Pocket matters to the paper market because it is where tens of millions of players meet the art; the 2000 Team Rocket set is in our vintage basket and has read 0.0 percent for four weeks. We will know by next Thursday whether a Pocket spotlight moves it.
