# Rip Station

> A virtual card vending machine for real, professionally graded Pokémon cards. Each pack you rip pulls one graded card from an insured vault. Keep it in the vault, ship the physical slab to your door, or sell it back to the machine instantly.

## Expected value (live)

Figures generated 2026-08-14 from the cards then in each machine; regenerated at least every 10 minutes.
A pack pulls one real graded card, so a machine's expected value is the average market value of the cards currently loaded in it.
Card values are estimated open-market values, not prices a card can be bought at — the only way to get one is to rip the pack it sits in.

## Keep or ship vs sell back

These are two different EV paths and they do not carry the same edge:
- Keep or ship the card: you realise its full market value, so the positive EV edge above applies.
- Sell it straight back: the machine pays 83% of the card's current market value (not of the pack price), which multiplies the expected value by 0.83 and pushes the edge negative.
The buyback stays open for 7 days after each rip and is always optional.

## Discounts live right now

- New users who arrive through a referral link get 10% off their first pack, applied automatically at checkout. Sign up through another user's referral link. The code lands on your account shortly after you log in and applies automatically at checkout on your first rip. Standing offer, no scheduled end date. Worked example: a 10% code on the Pokémon $25 Pack means you pay $22.50 against an expected value of $25.11, an edge of +11.6% instead of +0.5%.
- During the Treasure Dive, logged-in users get five dives on the $50 Pokémon machine; the discount starts at 6% and climbs to 10%, from $47 down to $45, as each rip advances the ladder to the next dive. Log in to take dive 1 on the $50 Pokémon machine. Each rip advances you to the next dive, discounts climbing from 6% off up to 10% off; a buyback that beats what you paid claims the motherlode and ends the run. One run per wallet. Valid until 2026-08-16. Worked example: a 6% code on the Pokémon $25 Pack means you pay $23.50 against an expected value of $25.11, an edge of +6.9% instead of +0.5%.

## Auctions (live)

Rip Station also runs a continuous auction, separate from the packs: one real graded card at a time, each lot open for 24 hours, with $0.50 minimum bid increments and a 3% buyer premium on top of the winning bid. Unlike a pack, the auction is not random — you can see exactly which card you are bidding on.

Across the last 113 completed auctions, the median winning bid was 82.3% of the card's estimated market value; 0 of 113 (0.0%) sold for under 15% of value, and the cheapest cleared at 26.0%. This is a small sample from a new auction and many lots receive no bid at all, so it describes how the auction has cleared so far — not what any future lot will sell for.
