Delta Reign prerelease promos

The Pokemon Company published the prerelease details for Mega Evolution: Delta Reign today. Events run at participating stores from October 24 to November 1, ahead of the November 6 release. The Build & Battle Box holds four Delta Reign booster packs, a 40-card ready-to-play deck built from current and prior expansions, and one of four foil promos: Masquerain, Magmortar, Enamorus or Kommo-o, each an alternate-art version of a card in the set with the Delta Reign logo on the artwork. Prerelease is played with 40-card decks and four prize cards. Prerelease promos are usually the cheapest cards from a set to own and the hardest to find in a 10, because they are opened and played the day they arrive.

The Garchomp LV.X

A 2008 Diamond & Pearl Majestic Dawn Garchomp LV.X #97 in PSA 10 sold at Fanatics Weekly on September 20 for $900,000. Three weeks ago we flagged the $204,000 Palkia LV.X as the first Diamond & Pearl-era card over $200,000; since then the Snorlax LV.X made $253,680 on Alt and now the Garchomp has made $900,000. The LV.X cards were the top rarity of 2007 to 2010, were priced like mid-tier modern for a decade, and have re-priced by an order of magnitude in a month. None of the Diamond & Pearl sets are in our vintage basket, which stops at 2007; that is now a question for the next basket review.

The Ampharos

A 2001 Neo Revelation First Edition Ampharos #1 in PSA 10 sold privately on September 22 for $600,000. It is the first Neo Revelation card we can find above six figures, and it follows the First Edition Neo Genesis Lugia ($360,000) and Typhlosion ($336,000) from the end of August. Neo Revelation's First Edition holos are scarcer in top grade than Neo Genesis's, and the set has been priced a tier below it for years; this result closes most of that gap in one sale.

Pocket

Team Rocket's Ambition's month of missions and puzzle campaign ends in Pokemon TCG Pocket on September 29, and the next Pocket set is scheduled for September 30. We had been watching the paper Team Rocket set for a Pocket effect; with the engine paused since September 15 the read is on hold until the feed resumes.
